Mumbai Color Festival 2013

In India, the beginning of spring is marked by the religious festival Lathmar Holi, also called the Festival of Colours. Not only the arrival of the spring is celebrated, but according to the Hindu religion they also celebrate the victory of good over evil. During this day people throw colored powder – Gulal – at eachother and paint their bodies with it. Thanks to the colors, the differences between castes, religion or origin are not quite as visible. Social barriers between young, old, rich and poor are forgotten. On this one day, all people are equal. The festival of brotherhood!

To honor this line of thought, lots of people celebrated the Mumbai Color Festival in Utrecht. Our brave and colorful photographers risked their cameras and went out to capture this amazing event.
